Prof. Andrej Janez

Andrej Janež, MD, PhD, is Professor of Internal Medicine and Head of the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at the University Hospital Ljubljana. He graduated from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine and received his PhD from the University of California San Diego.

He is the head of the national research programme Genes, Hormones and Personality Changes in Metabolic Disorders at the Slovenian Research Agency. His main research interests include insulin resistance and new therapies in diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and obesity.

He has authored or co-authored more than 140 original articles published in international journals indexed by SCI: New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Diabetes, Human Reproduction, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Diabetologia, Diabetes Obesity and Metabolism, European Journal of Endocrinology.
