Prof. Christian Herder
Christian Herder is a group leader and deputy director of the Institute for Clinical Diabetology at the German Diabetes Center and professor (epidemiology) at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany. His main research interests are (i) inflammation-related mechanisms leading to type 2 diabetes and complications, and (ii) biomarkers in the prediction and pathogenesis of diabetes and its complications. He is main author or coauthor of more than 350 peer-reviews articles.
Christian Herder is the General Secretary of the Central European Diabetes Association. He is the recipient of several awards, including his lecture at the Rising Star Symposium at the 45th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD 2009) as well as the Ferdinand Bertram Prize from the German Diabetes Association (2013). He is a member of the editorial boards of Diabetologia and Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews.
